Course One - Next Offering
The first course of this award-winning professional development program will begin in September 2013. The collaborative, adult learning approach is focused on practice yet grounded in scholarship. DDPE will transform your understanding of dialogue, deliberation and public engagement. The program is intended for:
• city managers and planners,
• facilitators and consultants,
• community and organizational development practitioners,
• scholars and students of participatory processes,
• mediators and other conflict resolution professionals,
• public servants and elected officials, and
• peace builders.
The total program is 19-weeks and consists of four courses.
The first and third courses are offered as distance learning. They include selected reading, individual and collaborative reflection, small group online and phone-based learning conversations, and large group phone-based conversations with core and guest faculty.
The second and fourth courses are face-to-face intensive workshops. The second is a symposium that combines face-to-face with online synchronous and asynchronous group interaction. The fourth includes a capstone engagement project with the opportunity for coached practice with faculty and seasoned practitioners.
